The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is a national program that was created out of an urgent sense that bold action was needed to save our young females from the perils of academic failure, low self-esteem, and crippled futures. For girls between the ages of 11 and 14, Tucson Alumnae's Delta Academy enriches and enhances the education that our young teens receive in public schools. Specifically, we augment the girls' scholarship in math, science and technology; we assist them in carrying out community service projects throughout Southern Arizona; and we help to prepare the girls for full participation as leaders in the 21st Century.
